We visited the Great Salt Lake State Park to see the Mirabilite Formations today. For the next couple of days, you can attend a Ranger lead tour about the formations. These salt mineral deposits can only be seen during specific winter conditions & it is unpredictable how long they last. You can have opportunity to walk along Silver Sands Beach with a Park Ranger to view & learn about the rare Mirabilite Formations that form during winter.
It was VERY cold & windy, be sure to bundle up! The tour is about 30 to 45 minutes. There is a $3/person fee & you need a state park pass to get in, or pay the $10 fee for the Park.
Alternatively, you can just go & check it out yourself, just don’t touch or walk on the formations!
