Your First Home

🏠 Your first home is typically NOT going to be your forever dream home. When we bought our first home IN 2008, we got an old 1942 home in Provo that had wallpaper everywhere (not the cute kind, haha), a pink toilet, sink & tub (kinda cool, honestly), & it smelled…..

So, it sounds like the perfect house, right?? Hahahah! It was a great little place for us & our cute dogs, Kanga & Peanut. We loved having our own yard with mountain views & being able to put our own personal touches on it. And we paid $177,800 for it with closing costs covered. 😯

About 3 years later we had saved up & were able to build a new home in Orem! We kept our old home & still have it as a rental, which has worked out for us. We did all of this against the advice of many, but we are fans of doing what we think makes sense for us. We are currently remodeling our first home extensively, which is special to us because we can make it much nicer than it was before.

The way we see it, your first home is more of a stepping stone to your bigger goals. These days, it is commonly a condo, townhome or a little old dated home, like ours was!! Owning a home is a powerful way to leverage your money & even build a rental portfolio if you want! If you’d be interested in doing something similar, we would love to help you!
